"I know how to ride a Horse, but not a bike", says Kratika

We all know how easily Kratika can ride a horse, its a cake walk for her. But she says she don't know how to ride a bike! In the set of purnarvivah, this is the scene that was happened. While Arti trying to start the bike but she was unable to do that, Yash , who is passing the way by, sees this and comes like a hero and starts the bike with one kick! You know, the doop is being used instead of kratika, to ride the bike, because anj is there at her back. She gave a try, but faced trouble..

Fans are very emotional people: Kratika Sengar

From playing a romantic to a warrior girl to playing a matured mother...Kratika Sengar has surely proved to be versatile in her five year stint in tellytown.

Starting off with a cameo in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, she found her calling in the television industry and did Kasauti Zindagii Key. She won accolades for her performance in the show Kya Dil Me Haiand then showed her action moves in Jhansi Ki Rani. Yet again, she is on the small screen doing something completely different from her last role; Kratika is currently seen opposite Gurmeet Choudhary in Punar Vivah - Zindagi Milegi Dobara.

With a few fans pleading her (on a social networking site and her fan pages) to leave the show and let Drashti Dhami play her role instead; as they would love to see Drashti and Gurmeet together on the small screen (after the show Geet... Hui Sabse Parayi), how does she react? She replies, "About my pairing with Gurmeet Choudhary, I have undergone all mock shots and look tests. Fans are very emotional people and when they have seen you with some people and they like your chemistry, they expect you to work with the same person again."

Well, looks like fans have to wait and watch for the chemistry between Kratika and Gurmeet. After all, everyone needs a fair chance!

‘Not just Drashti, even I look good with Gurmeet!’, says Kratika

Interview with Kratika by Times Of India

From playing a lovestruck young girl to a warrior princess and now a single mom - Kratika Sengar has done her share of diverse roles on prime time television.
As someone who started off as an intern in an advertisement agency, her life flipped 180 degrees when she was spotted by a producer and offered a small role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, followed by Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kya Dil Me Hai and Jhansi Ki Rani.

ROLE PLAY When Jhansi Ki Rani was getting over, I really wished to do a lighthearted romantic show. So I took up Punar Vivah - Zindagi Milegi Dobara. This show is a different kind of love story. I play the role of a homely mother who hails from a small town; but is a new generation woman at the same time - she doesn't care much about the society or what people have to say about her way of life .

ROMANTIC, WHO ME? In real life, I am not a romantic person. I am a fun person and a complete tomboy. Given a choice, I'd never read Mills & Boons romances, but I'm more a Paulo Coelho person. I am more realistic.

CHANGES AND CHALLENGES I consider myself lucky. Not a lot of actors get to play the kind of different characters that I have done so far. Television surely has greater reach than films, and a TV star enjoys a lot of popularity too. Being an actor, I feel I need to take up challenges and do different roles without thinking about whether the audience will accept me in those roles or not. In my five year stint in television, I think my career graph has just moved upwards.

REALITY TAKES When I was doing Jhansi Ki Rani, I was not shooting in Mumbai. So, I didn't have time to take part in any reality show. But now that I am shooting in Mumbai, I'd love to do a dance reality show. I might not be much of a dancer but I would love to dance. And although I was approached for the last season of Bigg Boss, I just don't see myself doing that show. I don't have a problem in staying with strangers, but you know that your fellow contestants are going to talk rubbish about you when you aren't around. Every participant wants to win, so they play all sorts of mindgames and toy with emotions. I am a very emotional person. I don't think I can handle all that flirtation, abuses, politics etc, etc!

Competition? No way! Our show is airing in a very competitive time band. There's Bade Achhe Laggte Hai ( Sony), Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya (Star Plus), Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha (Colors) and Haar Jeet (Imagine), which are all strong shows in their own way and have established fan bases. Personally, if I were to consider a show in that time slot as competition, it would have to be Bade Achhe Laggte Hai because that show is a mature romance. Even though it has been on air for more than six months, it's still a strong show. Having said that I think competition is healthy and I like it.

Fan-tastic demands A lot is being said about my on screen pairing with Gurmeet Choudhary. I had to undergo a look test to fit into the role. It upsets me when I get requests and even gentle threats from fans (on microblogging sites) saying I should quit the show because Gurmeet would look better with Drashti (Dhami), his former costar. I'd like to ask them to watch Gurmeet and my work together and I promise not to disappoint anyone.

Me time I am a complete water baby. I love to swim and listen to good music. I don't have many friends in the television industry as I am an introvert who likes her own set of friends. I also don't plan for the future and believe in living for the moment.

Kratika has a mighty heart:Interview with DC

Kratika Sengar aka Jhansi Ki Rani, is excited about her new avatar of a single and strong-headed parent in Punar Vivah.

What about the role of a single mother in Punar Vivah excited you?
She is not a helpless mother but a person who is ready to face the world even after her husband has left her for another woman. Her in-laws want to see her married as they feel Aarti is suffering. She has a son and when she realises that her son is deprived of a father’s love, Aarti goes ahead with the marriage. I chose this show because it’s a romantic story which is very different. I don’t think this concept has been tried before on television.

Often, actors take a long break once a serial ends. Did you think of doing so?
I did take a break for six months. I got an offer from Phulwa and Shobha Somnath Ki. When my show Jhansi Ki Rani ended, I had told people that I wanted to do a romantic show next; and Punar Vivah came my way.

How has been your experience of shooting with Gurmeet Chaudhary?
We haven’t started shooting with each other, but I can say that he is a brilliant actor. We have good chemistry onscreen and that is why our promo was highlighted before the start of the show.

Is there any role on television that you would like to play?
I really like Ragini Khanna in Sasural Genda Phool. The entire show is so light-hearted. There is another show called Hitler Didi on Zee which I would have loved to do. Rati Pandey is doing justice to that. I wouldn’t have played that role.

Any chances of vivah in real life too?
Not at all. I am very much single and happy. It’s not that I don’t have time for love but all I would say is that I am a Cancerian and I will wait for my Mr. Right. But currently I don’t have time to think about it all. I just want to focus on my career. I shoot the whole day and the time I get is for my new puppy which I got few months back. He is a beagle and has been on my sets once but normally he is at home. About falling in love and getting married, well, I have told my parents to find me a nice guy.

TV’s Jhansi turns contemporary

Hi friends,
Check the interview with Kratika done by afternoon dc..

"Jhansi is a tough act to follow … so I waited until something really worthwhile came along,” says actress Kratika Sengar, who is all set to hit the tube with ZEE TV’s latest Punarvivaah. Here’s Sengar in a chat with the ADC

You seem to have taken a long hiatus from the small screen after your show Jhansi Ki Rani went off air. So why did you stay away from TV for so long?
I was approached to participate in a reality show but I wasn’t excited enough about the whole proposition. A lot of actors would have jumped at the money and exposure. But, I am not one to follow a herd just for the heck of it. Jhansi Ki Rani is a tough act to follow. So, the next show had to be something really worthwhile. So I decided to spend some time waiting in the wings rather than take on work that I would not be proud of on hindsight.

So, what were your reasons for taking up this role?
The very fact that my role is a complete departure from playing a freedom fighter on a mission to save her land and people. Aarti is a modern, contemporary Indian woman who is mature, full of positivity and a loving mother of a 6 year old son. Life has dealt her with a blow in the fact that her first husband leaves her for no fault of hers. But Aarti isn’t the kinds to lose hope. She learns to keep smiling, more out of a sense of responsibility towards her son.

Did playing Aarti entail any preparation? How is it different from your previous work?
As an actor, one's preparation comes through sheer observation of human behavior as we go through life. Both Yash and Aarti are real people faced with real scenarios in life. Playing them effortlessly can come only from putting yourself in the shoes of the character. You need to ask yourself, "How would I react if this were to happen to me?" The role is extremely different from anything I have done before.

What is the USP of the show?
Punarvivaah is a mature, progressive show that sensitively captures the journey of a man and a woman, who having faced a debacle in their first attempts at marriage, are brave enough to give life a second chance. It’s a story told with many relatable moments. It is a sensitive look at what two people go through when they attempt to re-discover marital bliss a second time, the adjustments involved, the impact on the psyche of their children and how they hold it all together.

What is your take on remarriage?
I’m all for it … I mean why not! Just as the people in this industry say “the show must go on”! I believe that we live only once and it isn’t wise to while away the rest of your life crying over something you couldn’t control. That having said, I strongly believe in giving marriage or a relationship your best shot and making every attempt possible to make it work. But some things aren’t meant to be and you have to live with the fact that they have ended.

Will Aarti and Yash fall for each other eventually?
At first, these two people come together not out of love for each other but out of love for their children. And initially, there will be an awkwardness between them as each of them have not yet got over their first spouse. But, eventually, circumstances will bring them together. But after that, only time will tell. Why don’t you watch the show to figure it out?

How is your rapport with your co-actor Gurmeet?
We’re still getting to know each other. He seems nice. We believe in giving each other space on the sets but when it comes to work, we’re fully focused and support each other. I have met Debina as well. They are a sweet couple.

Tell us something about your journey in the industry so far?
Well, I've completed five years in this industry as I started my career with Kasautii Zindagii Kay, after which I did a few reality shows, followed by Jhansi Ki Rani and now Punarvivaah. I came to Mumbai to just complete a project and one of my friends took me to an audition and look at the opportunities I’ve got since then.
